Essex 3 cup Final Under 15’s

A great end to a very good season.

Essex 3 cup Final Under 15’s
Epping Upper Clapton V Wanstead

The final game of the season brought two team together who had played a league apart all season, so there were no gauges or season form to go by.
From the kick off Wanstead took to the front foot and the pressure looked to have paid off only for Dylan West to be just beaten to the touch. Wanstead continued to attack with wave after wave of fast moving ball. Harry Turner forcing the Epping backs to chase down several kicks keeping the ball deep into the hosts half.
Harry was to break the deadlock with a trademark “show and go” running the ball in from just inside his own half. Sam Castle converted.
0-7
The teams were very evenly matched and the half ended with Epping on the attack. Their constant pressure causing the Wanstead defence into a string of infringements. The excellent ref finally lost patience and Wanstead were reduced to 14 for the last 5 mins of the half. The extra man was just enough to tip the balance and the home side scored a good try which they couldn’t convert.
Half time 5-7
The second half followed a very similar pattern with Wanstead putting the home team under great pressure. It wasn’t long before the tries started to come and a kick through by Brandon Smith went directly under the posts and when he was impeded to the touchdown a penalty try was awarded.
5-14
Wanstead were back to full strength and a great move allowed Jamie in at the corner and there was now clear light between the teams.
5-19.
There was a clear period where Epping were fighting back and were rewarded with a nicely worked try in the corner, which they couldn’t convert.
10-19
There was a time when it looked like Wansteads heads were down and the hosts could have come back into the game. This was quashed when Max Cottrell ‘s dart for the line was halted by a high tackle and the hosts were now down to 14.
Tried from Dylan West, Andrew Jones, and to finist Sid Robinson from a great cross field kick from Harry Turner finished the game and the cup was won.
10-38
